Uniquely Customized U.S. Military Navigator's Wristwatch
Marathon Model 211 Navigator made in 1997 to U.S. Specification MIL-W-46374F. Customized while on issue to a U.S. Air Force Serviceman in South Korea. Dial has a day/date window.
Standard dial with a day/date window added. Clean acrylic domed crystal with only the lightest of fine scratches. Tritium vialed hands and markers still glow well all night and do not need to be "charged" under a lamp. The rotating bezel is bi-directional and has hour markings which can show elapsed time, or a second time-zone. The case has been slimmed down to give the watch a symmetrical appearance instead of it's original unbalanced look.
The stock movement was replaced with a readily-available civilian Miyota (Japanese), looks like a MIY2005. The use of a smaller movement keeps the day/date window inside the 3 o/c marker. Day and date are both quick-settable in the mid-position of the crown. The seconds hand "hacks" for sychronization, i.e. it stops when the crown is pulled out to the outer position to set the time. Takes a regular watch battery, not the larger military kind.
The clean stainless steel case back is of the press-on type and is gasketed inside for water resistance. Markings are correct for the year and type. The Contract number (SPO440-) shows that it was delivered to the U.S.Air Force.
20mm correct-style strap has been shortened but will fit up to about an 8-1/2" wrist. The watch is 39mm wide (excluding the crown), 48mm tall including the lugs and is 11mm thick. It weighs 29g (1 oz) including the band.
